Hello, I am Lisa Matscheko!

illustrator based in upper Austria

I specialise on children's book illustrations, but I also love doing editorial Illustrations and private projects (I already painted a beehive, wooden toybox, few walls and now I am working on theater decorations and you can see most of it here). When I am not drawing I am spending time with my two kids and family, reading along for my kids, going for a walk, drinking coffee or cooking.

I also give art classes to children at schools based on my own methodology to explain them some art basics and most importanly to awaken their interest and understanding of art.

  • My values
Family, nature, home and cozyness are very important to me personally. Those are also the things I am drawing.

I am trying to rediscover the world with my kids or remember the smallest things or some emotions from my own childhood, where every ordinary object was magical, to make my illustration full of life and warmth.

  • My technique
I work in traditional media, mostly using watercolor, colored pencil, Pan Pastel, aquarell-pastels. I use photoshop to finalise my illustrations.

Colors and contrasts, emotions of the characters, different textures, capturing the movement are my passion. I sketch a lot to find new ideas, and experiment with different materials to discover new textures.
